What it does
Put Sky News's latest world headlines on your screens, refreshed on their own. Pick a layout — a single story, a full-screen cover, a rolling list — and optionally show a QR code so people can keep reading on their phone. Nothing to set up: the feed is built in.
Every app in the catalogue is part of the plan. There is no app store, no per-app charge and nothing held back for a higher tier.
How to put Sky News headlines on a TV
Keep a screen in a bar, an office or a waiting room up to date with Sky News world headlines. The app comes set to the Sky News world feed and refreshes itself.
- 01
Add the app
In the dashboard, open Apps and add Sky News.
- 02
Choose a layout
There are ten under Layout. Primetime leads with one headliner and shows what is up next; Statement keeps the focus on the headline.
- 03
Set the details
Choose a Dark or Light Theme; Dark is the default. Turn Show QR code off if nobody will stand close enough to scan. How many stories sits under Feed Settings and runs from 1 to 20.
- 04
Put it on a screen
Add the app to a playlist, give it a duration and publish it to the screen.
Good to know
World headlines only
Stories come from the Sky News world feed, which is built into the app. There is no feed address in the form.
Updates every five minutes
The app checks for new Sky News stories every five minutes and puts them on the screen without anyone touching it.
Carries on offline
If the network goes down, the screen keeps the headlines it last received rather than going blank, and updates when it reconnects.
Questions about this app
No. It shows headlines and photos from the Sky News world feed. There is no live video or audio.
This app stays on world news. For another section, add the RSS feed app and give it that section's Sky News feed address, if one is published.
Six to start with. Change How many stories, under Feed Settings, to anything from 1 to 20; the newest are kept and older ones ignored.
Something for every kind of screen.
Install what you need and ignore the rest. Nothing here is an add-on you pay extra for.
