On this day

Historical events for today's date

What it does

Each day this shows notable events that happened on today's date through history, drawn from Wikipedia. Choose how many events to list and a light or dark theme; the events are shown in English, and the list refreshes automatically as the date rolls over. It makes engaging, ever-changing filler for lobbies, waiting rooms, schools and museums, giving people something to read while they wait.

Every app in the catalogue is part of the plan. There is no app store, no per-app charge and nothing held back for a higher tier.

Good to know

A new list every day

The app refreshes every six hours and moves on to the new date by itself.

Keeps its last list offline

If the network drops, the screen keeps showing the last events it received and catches up when the connection returns.

Events are not filtered

They come straight from Wikipedia, so some dates include wars and disasters. Bear that in mind for a children's area or a clinic.
