What it does
Build anticipation with a live timer that counts down to a big moment or up from a date that already passed. Give it a title, set the target date and time, choose the direction, and add a message to show when a countdown hits zero. It ticks on its own with or without a connection — great for product launches and event openings, or as a days-since-incident safety board in workshops and warehouses.
Every app in the catalogue is part of the plan. There is no app store, no per-app charge and nothing held back for a higher tier.
How to put a countdown timer on a screen
Count down to an opening, a launch or New Year, or count up the time since a date. The timer ticks on the screen itself, so it keeps going without the internet.
- 01
Add the app
In the dashboard, open Apps and add Countdown.
- 02
Set the moment
Pick the Date & time. It is read as the screen's local time. Add a Title to show above the timer, or leave it blank for just the numbers.
- 03
Choose the direction
Under Direction, pick Count down to it, or Count up since it for things like days since opening. A countdown can show a Message at zero, such as "Happy New Year"; a count-up ignores it.
- 04
Set the look
Show unit labels puts Days, Hours, Mins and Secs under the numbers. Theme — Light, Dark or Midnight — fills in Background colour, Text colour and Accent colour; the accent colours the labels and the message at zero.
- 05
Put it on a screen
Add the app to a playlist, give it a duration and publish it to the screen.
Good to know
Ticks offline
The timer runs on the screen and takes the time from the screen itself. Nothing is fetched.
What happens at zero
With a Message at zero, the numbers give way to it. Without one, the timer stops at zero and stays there.
Days is the largest unit
There are no weeks, months or years: a date far off shows as a number of days.
Questions about this app
The screen's own. The Date & time is read as local time on each screen, so screens in different time zones each reach zero at that time on their own clock.
No. The countdown makes no sound; at zero it shows your message, if you set one.
One countdown per app. Add the app once for each event, and split the screen with the Zones app to show them side by side.
