Where the numbers come from
Every default is a typical price or a published figure, and every one can be changed. They are the same numbers as our guide to what digital signage costs.
Displays
A 43-inch consumer TV typically costs €250–500 and a commercial display rated for long hours €450–900. At 55 inches, €400–800 and €650–1,300.
Player and mount
An Android TV box that meets the player’s minimums costs €40–120, a fixed or tilting mount €20–80, and cables with a spare €10–30.
Software
SignageStack is €11 per screen a month or €100 a year, excluding VAT, with every feature in one plan and no setup fee.
Electricity
Watts × hours on per year ÷ 1,000 × price per kWh. The defaults are a 55-inch commercial panel listed at 154 W, a café open 12 hours a day six days a week, and €0.23 per kWh: Eurostat's average for medium-sized business customers in Germany, excluding VAT. Smaller businesses usually pay more, so use the rate on your bill.

Installation and the time someone spends on content. One screen on a plasterboard wall is an afternoon for anyone handy with a drill; masonry, ceilings or several screens are worth a quote. Plan an afternoon to build the first playlist and around half an hour a week after that.
A bright panel that is on all day draws more than people expect: at the defaults, around €130 a year. Switching the display off when nobody is there is what cuts it. SignageStack’s working hours put a screen into standby, but on most LCD screens black is not off, so use the display’s own schedule or a timer switch.
For a first screen, yes: it shows what customers actually read before you spend on a panel. A consumer TV is built for a few hours a day, though, and some warranties do not cover commercial use. Buy a commercial display when the TV shows its limits.
The hardware figures are typical shop prices, which in most of Europe include VAT. SignageStack’s price excludes VAT.
